What type of film is being used?
We use Kodak Ektachrome 100D and Kodak 500T Color film stock in super 8mm. Kodak 200T, Kodak 50D, Kodak Tri-X (Black and White film), Wolfen Film Stocks and Pro8mm film stocks available on request.
Why should i shoot my project on film instead of digital?
In the age of AI and digital video manipulation, film is the only authentic medium that the viewer can trust.
Where are you located?
TexaSuper 8 provides super 8mm film service to the Central Texas and Hill Country region including Austin and San Antonio. Super 8mm film service is available in Dallas, Houston, and South Padre Island upon request.
What film labs do you use for developing and scanning?
We use The Negative Space Lab located in Denver, Colorado or Pro8mm located in Burbank, California to process all super 8mm film.
What resolution and file formats will I receive?
All super 8mm film is scanned oversampled at 6.5K resolution. The video file of your scanned super 8mm film will be ProRes 4444 (.MOV file)
Why doesn't my video have sound?
Although super 8mm film was able to record sound in the past, current super 8mm film stocks are not able to. The image plane of super 8mm film has been enlarged to cover the area once occupied by the sound recording strip. If your project requires any portion of recorded sound audio service is available for an additional fee.
